The Karachi Port handled 73,202 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,088 tonnes of import cargo and 8,114 tonnes of export cargo including 2,752 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 65,088 tonnes comprised 31,355 tonnes of containerised cargo; 55 tonnes of general cargo; 4,778 tonnes of coal and 18,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 8,114 tonnes comprised 7,548 tonnes of containerised cargo and 566 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 2,752 containers comprising 2,228 containers import and 524 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 718 of 20's and 615 of 40's loaded while 36 of 20's and 122 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 256 of 20's and 83 of 40's loaded containers while 2 of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There are three ships namely Kota Gembira, Jolly and UACC Shams with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are two vessels viz APL Brisbane and Ital Moderna with two container ships respectively are currently at the berths. There are two ships namely APL Brisbane and Ital Moderna with two container ships respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely West Scent and Hopeful with one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Friday.

A container vessel viz APL Chicago due to arrive on Thursday, while eight vessels viz Rio Branco, YM North, Shiba, Capriole, Golden Gion, Ivory Arrow, SFL Hudson and Pacific Wing with three container ships, two ethanol tankers, one vehicle carrier, one coal carrier and one project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 40,077 tonnes comprising 33,693 tonnes of import cargo and 6,384 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 630 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 33,693 tonnes includes 26,847 tonnes of furnace oil and 6,846 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 6,384 tonnes of containerised cargo.

A container ship namely CV San Francisco sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of three vessels viz CV San Francisco, MV Sai Eternity and MT Mire are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as five ships namely City of Beijing, Dubai Express, NYK Kai, Beautiful Rena and Kalamas with containers, rice and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels viz CV City of Beijing, CV Dubai Express and CV NYK Kai with containers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday.
